Blinn launches new Clinical Medical Administrative Assistant Program

Online program prepares students to take the National Healthcareer Association's CMAA certification exam

February 6, 2025

The Blinn College District has launched an online Clinical Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) Program, providing students with a pathway to a career in healthcare administration.

This non-credit program follows nationally recognized training, assessment, and certification standards set by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) and prepares students to take the CMAA certification exam upon completion.

Clinical medical administrative assistants play a vital role in healthcare offices by scheduling patient appointments, creating and maintaining medical records, communicating with patients and healthcare providers, and managing bookkeeping tasks such as billing and insurance reimbursement. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, medical secretaries and administrative assistants earn a median salary of $40,640.

Blinn’s CMAA course will be offered online during the spring 2025 semester, with registration now open. The 96-hour course runs from March 17 through May 8 and is offered entirely online. The cost is $1,028, which includes tuition, online materials, and the national certification exam fee. To register, students must have a high school diploma or GED and review the CMAA healthcare information session prior to enrollment. Students who complete the program will be eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association certification exam.

Duddlesten Foundation scholarships are available for eligible students while funds remain. For more information or to register, visit www.blinn.edu/clinical-medical-administrative-assistant.
