Schaefer Custom Homes is new platinum underwriter for Clay Shootout

Annual fundraising event for Blinn College will be held April 4 at Boswell Porter 4-H Shotgun Range

Schaefer Custom Homes has been named the new platinum underwriter for next month’s Blinn College Alumni and Friends and Buccaneer Alumni Lettermen Clay Shootout, continuing a longstanding family tradition of support.

“We’re excited to help sponsor one of the premier fundraising events for Blinn,” said Michael Schaefer, president of Schaefer Custom Homes and Chair of the Blinn College Foundation Board of Directors. “The Shootout raises money that goes entirely to Blinn students or programs. Our family has been supporters of Blinn for three generations, and we know how vital the College is to so many students.”

This sponsorship builds upon the Schaefers’ longstanding commitment to Blinn. In 2024, the family gifted $35,000 to the Foundation to establish the Michael and Sandra Schaefer Family Endowed Scholarship, which supports students who attended a Brazos County high school and are children of Blinn faculty or staff members.

Schaefer built his first home in 1984 when he was an 18-year-old Blinn student and later founded Schaefer Custom Homes, a leading homebuilder known for superior craftsmanship. The company is based in Bryan/College Station.

His father, Robert A. Schaefer, taught accounting at Blinn College-Brenham for 15 years. Michael Schaefer also served as a Blinn faculty member for 23 years, including as chair for what was then the Division of Business, Information Technology, and Public Service. The Schaefers’ daughters Allison and Amanda attended Blinn, where they served as student ambassadors.

The Blinn College Alumni and Friends and Buccaneer Alumni Lettermen associations will host this year’s Clay Shootout on Friday, April 4, at the Boswell Porter 4-H Shotgun Range, 7676 County Road 247 in Burleson County. The Shootout raises funds for academic scholarships and athletic equipment.

We look forward to the positive impact their support will bring to our cause and are excited to see the continued success of the Clay Shootout with their involvement.”

Silver sponsors are Brenham National Bank, Blue Bell Creameries, Horizon Grass Farms, and Texas KB Utilities. Raffle sponsors are Paragon Financial Advisors and Aggieland Construction.

Registration is:

• $600 for a team of four,
• $150 for a single shooter (will be paired on teams),
• and $20 for spectators.

Shooter registration includes 100 sporting clays, a meal, drinks, prizes, and trophies. Spectator registration includes unlimited food and drinks.
