Agricultural Sciences
Blinn's Agricultural Sciences Program is the largest in the state offering a two-year associate degree in agriculture. Our associate degrees in agriculture and agricultural business transfer to the state's leading universities, including Texas A&M, Sam Houston State, and Tarleton State. We also offer a wide range of agricultural extracurriculars, including our 2024 national champion livestock judging team, Ag Club, and Ag Mechanics Club.
Degree and Certificate Plans
We offer a 60-credit-hour Associate of Science in Agriculture, as well as a 60-credit-hour Associate of Science in Agricultural Business that includes a focus on agribusiness and business. Both degrees are designed to transfer toward agricultural bachelor’s degrees. High school dual credit students can earn their 15-credit-hour Level I certificate in Plant Science. In addition to our standard transfer pathways, Blinn and the Texas A&M University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences have a transfer agreement that provides you a seamless pathway toward Texas A&M bachelor’s degrees in agricultural economics, bioenvironmental sciences, poultry science, plant and environmental soil science, and horticulture.
Through this partnership, you can earn your associate degree from Blinn and earn admission to a Bachelor of Science degree program offered by the Texas A&M College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Click the link below for more information:

Meet Devyn Gaff and Kinsey Gardner
As roommates on the Brenham Campus, Devyn and Kinsey got to share the experience of being members of Blinn’s national champion livestock judging team and All-Americans. “I chose Blinn because of the atmosphere,” Devyn said. “From the moment I walked through the door, I knew this was where I needed to be. The coaches all have the same competitive mindset that I do. They wanted to make us good people, but also good livestock judging team members.”
Meet John See IV
A former participant in Blinn College's annual Agricultural Mechanics Project Show, John See IV is now a Blinn agricultural mechanics student on the Brenham Campus.

Meet Doug Pierce
As an Agricultural Sciences Professor, Doug Pierce has helped to build Blinn’s Agricultural Sciences Program into the largest two-year agricultural program in the state. He also launched the College’s multi-time national champion livestock judging team.
“No one has as much passion for learning and love for every individual’s success as Mr. Pierce,” said Bryn Behnke, Assistant Dean for Agricultural Sciences. “This has never been a job to Mr. Pierce, but rather a lifestyle and calling.”
“I’m blessed to be able to teach young people something that I really enjoy talking about, whether it be in the classroom or out in the pastures,” Pierce said. “My main goal in teaching is to teach kids to think and to wonder and ask why because if we do those things, we are training the next generation to solve problems in any area, like agriculture.”

Agricultural sciences explore how scientific principles are applied to farming, food production, and natural resource management. This field includes topics such as crop cultivation, animal husbandry, soil science, and sustainable practices that enhance efficiency and environmental stewardship.

Blinn offers one of the most comprehensive agricultural programs among community colleges, with courses in plant science, animal science, marketing, economics, construction, small engines, and wildlife. We are also one of the few community colleges nationwide offering construction, welding, and small engine repair courses for academic transfer. These unique offerings ensure that your education at Blinn prepares you for both hands-on experience and smooth transfer to a four-year university in Texas.
The 60-credit-hour Associate of Science in Agriculture and Associate of Science in Agricultural Business are each designed to transfer toward agricultural bachelor's degrees at most universities. The AS in Agricultural Business specifically includes accounting and economics courses that are not required for the AS in Agriculture but may be added as electives.

Both degrees can be completed entirely on the Brenham and Bryan campuses. Additionally, some classes are available on the RELLIS, Schulenburg, and Sealy campuses.
The Brenham Campus combines immersive learning with access to specialized facilities, fostering a practical understanding of agricultural sciences with hands-on experiences:
- Livestock judging team and redshirt livestock program
- Agricultural mechanics team and club
- Welding, woodworking, and small engine laboratories
- Ann Gardner Livestock Annex, featuring a demonstration room, farrowing house, and animal working pens
The Bryan Campus prepares students for transfer with coursework in plant science, animal science, food science/nutrition, marketing, economics, and wildlife. It offers:
- Proximity to Texas A&M University, providing access to a vibrant college town
- The Agribusiness Club
- Personalized instruction in a dynamic community environment
Students can also take advantage of flexible schedules that allow them to travel between the Brenham and Bryan campuses for specialized courses in welding, construction, or small engine repair.
Texas A&M University
Blinn Agricultural Science students transfer to Texas A&M to pursue a variety of bachelor's degree programs, including agricultural science, animal science, ag leadership and development, ag communications, agricultural economics, agricultural systems management, horticulture, poultry science, rangeland ecology management, rangeland wildlife fish management, wildlife and fisheries science, and veterinary medicine.
Through an agreement with the Texas A&M University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Blinn offers seamless pathways toward Texas A&M bachelor's degrees in agricultural economics, bio-environmental sciences, poultry science, plant and environmental soil science, and horticulture. Sam Houston State University
Through a co-enrollment partnership in which you are simultaneously admitted to both Blinn and Sam Houston State, you can pursue your bachelor’s degree in agriculture or animal science from SHSU.
Blinn also offers traditional transfer pathways to Sam Houston State’s animal science program and pre-veterinary animal science program.
