Through Blinn's Arts Program, you can complete your Core Curriculum while developing your ability to plan, and to produce art while using visual principles design, , elements, and techniques in one or more visual arts media. Blinn arts graduates can enter the workforce immediately or transfer to the state's leading universities, including Texas A&M, Sam Houston State, Texas State, the University of Texas-San Antonio, the University of North Texas, and the University of Houston.

Degree Plan

This program is similar to the first two years of a typical arts program at a four-year college or university. It also provides flexibility for students desiring an associate’s degree to specialize the program to their individual interests.

Studying the arts fosters creativity, critical thinking, and emotional expression, helping you explore and communicate ideas in unique ways. It’s also a great way to gain skills useful in many careers, from design to education, while enriching your personal and professional life.

With studios on both the Brenham and Bryan campuses, Blinn offers a creative environment where you can earn your Associate of Arts degree while exploring different media. Our facilities feature state-of-the-art computers for digital work and traditional studios for hands-on projects.

Our faculty are practicing artists who exhibit their work across Texas. Their expertise spans various mediums, including graphite, painting, ceramics, metals, and 3D installations, providing you with inspiration and guidance from professionals in the arts.

Students can specialize in traditional arts (like ceramics, metals, drawing, and painting) or digital arts (including photography, graphic design, and digital arts). You can even combine these areas to align with your interests and career goals.

The Associate of Arts in Arts is available online and on the Brenham, Bryan, RELLIS, Schulenburg, and Sealy campuses.

Blinn courses transfer to bachelor’s degree programs at universities across the nation and recent arts graduates have transferred to Texas A&M, Sam Houston State, Texas State, the University of Texas-San Antonio, the University of North Texas, and the University of Houston.  Speak to an academic advisor at your university of choice to see how Blinn credits will apply toward your specific degree plan.

Yes, careers in the arts are growing as creativity and visual communication become more valuable in industries like media, design, and technology. Blinn also welcomes non-major students to explore art classes, whether for personal enrichment or to gain skills for starting a business.

In addition to careers in the architecture industry, graduates are qualified for positions in land and project development, technical sales jobs focusing on building materials, systems, and equipment, or positions with government agencies or financial institutions.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, arts and design professionals earn an annual median salary of $48,220.
