Perkins Financial Assistance

Perkins financial assistance is distributed for enrolled Blinn students majoring in a two-year Associate of Applied Science degree. Students must complete the Perkins Assistance application during the application dates to be eligible for assistance consideration. Students must re-apply each semester they wish to receive financial assistance.

Who is eligible for Perkins financial assistance?

To be eligible for Perkins assistance, a student must meet the following requirements:
  • Majoring in a two-year Associate of Applied Science degree or taking prerequisites to enter a health sciences program. View the entire list of AAS degree and certificate plans here.
  • Enrolled in at least six credit hours in the Fall or Spring semesters and a minimum of three credit hours in any Summer term.
  • Maintain at least a 2.0 grade point average (GPA).
  • Have an active Blinn student email address
  • To be considered, students must identify as one of the following categories:
    • Disabled: physical, academic, or mental disability documentation must be on file with the Blinn Office of Disability Services
    • Economically Disadvantaged: also receives Pell Grant, WIOA, AFDC, food stamps, Texas Public Education Grant, or proof of income below the poverty level
    • ESL (English as a second language): must be enrolled in ESL courses at Blinn
    • Homeless individuals
    • Nontraditional field of study (refer to list below)
    • Out-of-workforce individuals
    • Single parent or single pregnant woman
    • Youth who are in, or have aged out of, the foster care system
    • Youth with a parent who is a member of the armed forces and is on active duty
