How to get involved and make new friends in college

Tips and Resources

College is an exciting time, and it can be even more fulfilling when you get involved on campus. Whether you are interested in joining a club, volunteering in the community, or pursuing an internship, there are countless opportunities to engage and enhance your college experience.

There are countless opportunities available, so don't be afraid to explore and try new things. Here are some of the easiest ways you can get involved, discover new interests, and build new friendships in college:

One of the most popular ways to get involved on campus is by joining a club or organization. At Blinn, we have approximately 70 recognized student organizations, including academic, social, religious, social, and professional groups. By joining a club, you can meet new people who share similar interests, gain leadership skills, and contribute to the campus community. Find out more by visiting www.blinn.edu/student-leadership-activities.

Volunteering can be a great way to give back to the community while also building your resume and gaining valuable experience. Blinn offers a variety of service clubs, and our service learning classes blend classroom instruction with service opportunities. Learn more about service learning at www.blinn.edu/service-learning.

Blinn hosts a wide variety of events throughout the year, such as concerts, guest lectures, plays, athletic events, and celebrations. Attending these events can be a great way to meet new people and make valuable connections. Check out our activites calendar for a complete list of events taking place across the College District.

Internships are an excellent way to gain real-world experience in your field of interest, and many Blinn programs include internships as part of your degree plan.

Participating in student government is an excellent way to gain leadership experience and make a difference on campus. To learn more about your campus Student Government Association, visit www.blinn.edu/student-leadership-activities.

Participating in sports can be a great way to get involved on campus and make new friends. To get involved, email sla.brenham@blinn.edu on the Brenham Campus or bryansla@blinn.edu on the Bryan Campus.
